Transformation, innovation and knowledge: BIOFACH 2025, the World's Leading Trade Fair for Organic Food, will welcome international players along the entire value chain to Nuremberg from 11 to 14 February 2025. The BIOFACH Congress 2025, which will take place at the same time, will be held under the motto “Yes, we do! – How to effect change in the organic food segment”. It provides a central forum for dialog and knowledge exchange on forward-looking solutions and the transformation towards more organic.

With a total of seven forums, the BIOFACH Congress covers a wide range of topics. It is complemented by a specialist supporting program. Numerous areas in the halls will cover all topics from market figures, politics and sustainability to future trends and presentations specifically for retail trade or out-of-home catering. This year's congress focus, “Yes, we do! – How to effect change in the organic food segment”, focuses on sustainable financing, organic food in public catering and convincing storytelling. One highlight is the event “Sustainability-weary consumers? Better communication, green marketing, attitude - selling organic more successfully”. The BioHandel Akademie and Rheingold Institute will show how consumers react to overwhelming sustainability and nutritional demands. Communication strategies for sustainable food offerings will also be highlighted.

The SustainableFutureLab will also focus on this topic in the interactive event “SOLD! The financial future of agri-food systems”. Moderated by the host, Good Food Collective, the participants, including IFOAM, are invited to explore new and future models for financing agricultural and food systems.

Organic in out-of-home catering (OOH)

Another focus is on organic food in public catering. The special area in Hall 6 and the STADTLANDBIO forum in NCC Ost offer workshops, discussion rounds and presentations, for example on regional value creation or market figures. Several events presenting the EU project “SchoolFood4Change” deserve special mention. Their aim is to make school meals tasty for children and at the same time healthy for the body and our planet.

The OOH focus on “Municipal catering management in Germany and Europe” opens up another international perspective, with examples of success and political demands. In its presentation “Organic Cities Network - Organic food and the decisive role of public procurement, success stories from Germany, France and Sweden”, the network of organic cities presents the new guide to catering management. The Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is actively involving trade fair visitors in the establishment of the development agency for organic regional procurement. Their contribution is entitled “From procurement to comprehensive catering management. The new guidelines of the network of organic cities, municipalities and districts”.

Participants can experience organic out-of-home catering live and in full motion at the special area in numerous exhibitor presentations and live cooking sessions. For example, Bioland will be presenting “Farm to table in the Michelin-starred kitchen” with Sebastian Junge, member of the Slow Food Chef Alliance.

Organic in the food retail

The Fachhandel Forum, tours of BIOFACH and MeetingPoints will cover current challenges in the organic food trade. AI-based solutions are the focus of the presentations “”AI” as a success factor? How organic stores can use new technology for their own purposes...” as well as ”Smart & Green: How AI reveals the organic shoppers* of the future”. These sessions will shed light on how artificial intelligence can support strategic decisions in organic stores.

Further highlights include discussions on the positioning of organic in the food retail sector. The contribution “How much organic is possible in independent retail today? Who delivers?” in the BIOimSEH Expert Lounge is dedicated to the market opportunities for organic products. The presentation “Organic in food retail: Where are the current opportunities for full-range retailers and branded companies?” has a similar focus.

Another key topic is the role of “Drugstore supplies and cosmetics in the organic retail: ‘Between past, present and a possible future’. An analysis of the development and future relevance shows how drugstore and cosmetic products can once again become a profitable component of organic retail.

Organic market figures, trends and innovations

Forecasts are an indispensable part of the BIOFACH Congress. Current market figures will be presented in the sessions “The German Organic Market - Facts, Figures, Analysis 2025” and its international counterpart “Global Organic Market”. The same applies to the “Natural Cosmetics Industry Monitor 2024: Data, Facts, Current Developments” and the international “Global Natural & Organic Cosmetics Market: Update & Outlook”.

Trend tours and the BIOFACH Start-up Pitches also offer exciting insights into the latest innovations. In the event “The Future of Organic - BIOFACH Trends 2025”, the BIOFACH trend-jury will explain what the future of organic looks like and what trends they have identified for BIOFACH 2025.
